Identified in circadian rhythm screen. Short circadian period of wheel-running activity (22.5 hrs rather than 23.5 hrs). Wheel running activity is about 10% of control animals. The PLAY8 stock arose following the screening of ENU mutagenised BALB/c males. This mutant line may be useful in elucidating the molecular basis of the internal circadian clock. This phenotype could be of potential use in the study of the molecular basis of sleep disorders.
